FreeDOS Substituting Utilities

These are assorted DOS utilities from the FreeDOS project.  None of 
these utilities are required by the Disk Operating System!  

The original goal of the FreeDOS project was to create OpenSource 
equivalents for all of the utilities that were bundled by Microsoft 
with their MSDOS.  Only those completed substitute utilities which 
have the |SAME BASE NAMES| as in MSDOS are included here.  

Please note that some of the utilities that were bundled with MSDOS 
version 6.22 have yet to (will ever?) have FreeDOS substitutes which 
are named the same as in MSDOS (e.g., Mouse vs CTMouse).  


Caveat: Just like Microsoft sometimes does, several of the FreeDOS 
utilities were acquired from programmers that were not specifically 
writing their utilities for FreeDOS.  As such, inconsistencies will 
appear in the command line "switches" and the documentation style.  

WARNING: Never run a Batch File that utilizes a MSDOS utility which has 
been exchanged with a FreeDOS utility, until you have first verified the 
SYNTAX.  Using a "switch" that performs differently could be catastrophic.  


CAUTION: Some of the FreeDOS utilities have a different extension than 
those of MSDOS, which -may- cause previously written Batch Files that 
explicitly include the MSDOS utilities extension, to fail.

NOTES: 
1) Like in MSDOS, DEFRAG and EDIT also have *.HLP files.
2) FDISK utilizes additional files "fdisk.ini" and "fdiskpt.ini".
3) KEYB utilizes additional files "keybrd3.sys" and "keybrd4.sys".
4) DISPLAY utilizes additional CPI files "ega4.cpx" -thru- "ega18.cpx".
5) Several of the utilities have associated NLS files useable by NLSFUNC.
